On Sept. 29, Saint Laurent debuted its Women’s Spring-Summer 2027 Collection at Paris Fashion Week. Designed by Anthony Vaccarello, the collection pays homage to the beauty of gold. Illuminated under Paris’ Eiffel Tower and several tiered candle chandeliers, the debut was a triumph for the fashion house.
Anthony Vaccarello has been Saint Laurent’s creative director for the past decade, with rumors beginning to circulate that this show may be his last. During his time at Saint Laurent, Vaccarello has paved the way for success by revamping the fashion house’s archives.
For the Summer 27 show, Vaccarello drew upon Saint Laurent’s rich history with the color gold. The show notes even feature a quote from the brand’s founder, Yves Saint Laurent: “I love gold; it’s a magical color. When reflecting a woman, it’s the color of the sun.”
The Women’s Summer 27 Collection highlights Vaccarello’s iconic structural pieces. At the show, models were dressed in garments ranging from pencil skirts and cocktail dresses to an array of topcoats, including safari and bomber jackets. The outfits featured bold details like 80s-inspired shoulder pads, asymmetric cuts and cutaway collars. The designs also overlay gold leaf, either in shiny Y2K-inspired hues or muted vintage tones, on materials like latex that created crinkled, foil-like textures.
Other designs ditched the gold for its more elegant counterpart: sleek black. In these outfits, the models strutted in draped garments with a ruffled or satin texture and oversized, rounded silhouettes. These looks also included pieces ranging from trench coats to evening gowns, which were accented by gold heels and buttons, chandelier earrings and billowy black bows.
Among the crowd were high-profile fashion icons and celebrities. The front row sat Hailey Bieber, Zoë Kravitz, Kate Moss and Rosé. Fellow designers Donatella Versace and Pierpaolo Piccioli were also in attendance. Charlotte Gainsbourg, one of Vaccarello’s many muses, closed out the show singing a tribute to the Saint Laurent brand and Vaccarello himself.

With 59 looks, Vaccarello delivered an over-the-top gilded-age tribute while maintaining his refined, elegant style. The varying textures and materials in each design speak to his creativity and alluring depictions of gold and black.
It’s clear Vaccarello has not lost his Midas touch as he celebrates 10 successful years with Saint Laurent and the lasting legacy he created. Saint Laurent’s Spring-Summer 2027 runway is one to be remembered, twinkling through the night alongside the Eiffel Tower.
